Upgrade Services

As part of your upgrade to Altiris® Client Management Suite™, you now have access to best-of-breed client management technology. However, we realize you must have concerns around how you will be able to migrate from your existing client management infrastructure to an Altiris-based one. The Altiris Professional Services team has developed a specialized migration program for LiveState customers that follows a three-phase approach.

Phase 1: Requirements Assessment

During the Requirements Assessment phase, Altiris Professional Services will review the customer environment to determine how the LiveState product is being used. Our professional services staff will also assess the customer environment from a business and technology perspective to understand the necessary requirements that will factor into the eventual Altiris CMS infrastructure design.

The topics covered in the Requirements Assessment include:

  • LiveState Product and Functionality Review
  • Client Management Business Process Review
  • Infrastructure Technology Review

Phase 2: Functionality Migration

Once the Requirements Assessment is completed, our professional services staff will determine what services will be performed in the Functionality Migration phase. The purpose of the Functionality Migration is to achieve a state where the customer has similar product functionality with the Altiris CMS infrastructure that was realized with the LiveState infrastructure. Things that are deemed customizations will not be migrated in this phase of the project.

Here is a sample of some of the items that would be part of the Functionality Migration:

  • Altiris CMS Infrastructure Design
  • LiveState Data Migration
  • Functionality Testing and Pilot
  • Agent Migration

Phase 3: Customization Migration

Once your new Altiris CMS infrastructure provides similar functionality to your previous LiveState infrastructure, you will have the option to perform a Customization Migration. This phase addresses those items that were considered to be above and beyond core product functionality in the Requirements Assessment.
